AGGRESSION SCALES AND INVENTORY ASSESSMENT


There are a variety of assessments that can be used evaluate the role of anger in various psychological and physical conditions. Depending on the assessment battery used, and which age group it is applicable to, general inclination toward anger reactions, based on Cognitive, Arousal and Behavior subscales are indicated. Simply put, the following is measured:

Cognitive - Anger justification, rumination, hostile attitude and suspicion.

Arousal - Anger intensity, duration, somatic tension and irritability.

Behavior - Impulsive reaction, verbal aggression, physical confrontation and indirect expression.

Anger Regulation - Ability to regulate anger-engendering thoughts, effect self-calming, and engage in constructive behavior when provoked.

The Provocation Inventory is a reflection of five content areas: disrespectful treatment, unfairness, frustration, annoying traits of others, and irritations.

Regardless of which assessment battery is used,  anger reactivity, anger suppression and change in anger disposition are all common denominators and after evaluation an effective Anger Management intervention and counselling program can be designed to suit unique needs.

There are tests available from the age of 9 years up to much older generations, for instance up to 90.

Anxiety, Depression, Emotional state, Self-concept and Disruptive Behavior Assessments

A variety of different assessments are used to assess the following categories in children ranging from 2 years to into young adulthood:

A written report is given, as well as verbal feedback, parental guidance on a number of behavioral and emotional problems. The information provided is designed to help parents learn about the problems being experienced and offer different strategies which can be used at home to help address these problems or concerns and counselling intervention, remedial therapy, behavioral counselling anxiety counselling etc. is all taken into account when developing a counselling plan based on these assessments.
